Trickster Hook Concept
This is a concept for the preexisting franchise Dead By Daylight. Within the game mechanics there are various hooks, spread throughout the map, which the Killer may hook Survivors to progress the game phase. Additionally, hooks have a strong tendency to be themed towards the Killer which is paired with their particular map.
This hook was created for The Trickster, a Killer who was forged around the K-Pop industry, being a psychopathic serial killer who abused his popularity, torturing his fans and recording their screams to mix into his music as a taunt to the authorities.
I designed the hook to incorporate these aspects of The Trickster's design. First, the hook was created with an urban motif, with scaffolding, concrete and rebar a significant portion of its design. When a Survivor is hooked, a microphone is present to record the screams, and a laptop will begin playing a waveform animation on the screen. Additionally, stage lights attached to the hook, which usually flicker occasionally, will turn on for the duration the Survivor is on the hook.
Creating the concept in 3D was tedious, as this was the first piece I had created directly from a concept, although it was able to work with little struggle. The main column of the hook was created and textured within ZBrush, and after it was moved into Blender, the rest of the hook was added onto it.
